Why score readiness first?
Australian SMBs often jump straight to “we need an app” without clarifying which processes hurt most and whether foundations (data, roles, integrations) are ready. An automation readiness score gives a shared language for owners, ops managers, and developers before you commit budget.
Movate’s Automation Readiness Quiz asks about process management, manual hours, errors, visibility, and quoting — then maps answers to a level and opportunity narrative.
Score bands
The quiz produces a raw score (out of 34) and a percentage. Levels are:
| Level | Score range | Label |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 8–14 | Manual Operations |
| 2 | 15–21 | Emerging Automation |
| 3 | 22–28 | Operationally Efficient |
| 4 | 29–34 | Automation Ready |
Manual Operations (8–14)
Businesses here rely heavily on spreadsheets, email chains, and individual staff knowledge. Bottlenecks, errors, and limited reporting are common. Opportunity: workflow automation across quoting, operations, and customer management — often 10–20 hours per week recoverable.
Emerging Automation (15–21)
Some digital tools exist, but data still lives across systems. Duplicate work and inconsistent records slow teams down. Opportunity: connect systems and automate high-volume workflows (quoting speed, customer response, reporting).
Operationally Efficient (22–28)
Strong foundations and several automated processes are already in place. Opportunity: advanced automation, AI-assisted documents, deeper integrations — optimisation rather than starting from scratch.
Automation Ready (29–34)
Highly systemised businesses with clear workflows and openness to automation. Opportunity: AI-assisted quoting, predictive analytics, intelligent orchestration — focus shifts from basic automation to optimisation.
How we use the score in discovery
The score does not auto-generate a project quote. It helps us:
- Prioritise which workflow to validate in a PoC
- Set realistic expectations for integrations and change management
- Tailor AI refinement of your project description when you submit the quiz
When to take the quiz
- Before replacing a critical spreadsheet
- When leadership disagrees on “how manual we really are”
- After reading about custom quoting or field service apps
Next step
Take the automation readiness quiz — no obligation. If the results resonate, book a short discovery call to map a PoC scope.
